This piece is a tribute to Obá, the powerful Orixá known for her strength, courage, and deep emotional resilience. As a fierce warrior and protector, she embodies the energy of a woman who gives her all, often at the cost of her own heart.

In this artwork, I chose to focus on the duality of Obá’s journey—her unyielding strength as a warrior and the vulnerability she faced in matters of the heart.

Her headpiece conceals the cut ear, symbolising the sacrifice she made out of love. Surrounding her are symbols of protection and transformation: waves and a ball of fire, flowing with both tumultuous currents and serene waters, representing the balance between chaos and peace in life; and warrior weapons, reflecting not only her readiness for battle but also her loyalty and devotion to those she loves.
