The Six Stages of Disconnection Between Body and Soul

A Personal Awakening

Five years ago, during a Reiki session, I heard something that profoundly changed my life: "Pay attention to the connection between your body and your soul."

At the time, I didn't fully understand it. But as I began my journey of self-awareness, I realised how often we ignore the signals our bodies send us—until they become too loud to dismiss.

Disconnection doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a gradual process, unfolding in stages. Here’s how it progresses and why paying attention early can transform your well-being.

The Six Stages of Disconnection

STAGE 1. The Whisper: Small Accidents

Ever had one of those days where you keep bumping into things?
You stub your toe, knock your elbow on the doorframe, or drop your phone for the tenth time.
It’s easy to brush it off as clumsiness, but what if it’s something more?
These little mishaps could be your body’s way of saying, "Hey, are you even here?"
A subtle reminder to slow down and reconnect.

STAGE 2. Gentle Warnings: Minor Physical Symptoms

Your body starts nudging you a little harder.
Maybe you’re dealing with constant itching, allergies, or a sudden cavity even though your brushing routine hasn’t changed.
Fungal infections, dandruff—small but persistent annoyances.
These aren’t random; they’re signals.
Your body is trying to get your attention before things escalate.

STAGE 3. The Shout: Inflammations and Persistent Issues

At this point, the signs become harder to ignore. Gastritis, cystitis, laryngitis—anything with “-itis” (which literally means inflammation) starts showing up.
Your body is no longer whispering; it’s practically yelling, "Listen to me!"
You might need medication, a doctor’s visit, or just more rest, but the deeper message remains the same: something inside you is out of balance.

STAGE 4. The Breakdown: Serious Illnesses

If you’ve ignored the previous signs, your body takes matters into its own hands.
Suddenly, you’re forced to stop—maybe it’s surgery, a hospital stay, or a period of bed rest.
The body is smart; when you won’t take a break, it creates one for you.
This is a major wake-up call, a chance to reset and realign before things get worse.

STAGE 5. Chronic Disconnection: Autoimmune and Long-Term Conditions

By now, the body has adapted to functioning in a state of imbalance.
Autoimmune diseases or chronic conditions start to take root. You might feel like you’re constantly managing symptoms with no clear cure.
This is survival mode—your body is doing its best despite the ongoing disconnection.
The good news? Healing is still possible, but it requires deep attention and care.

STAGE 6. The Ultimate Separation: Death

At the final stage, if the disconnection continues, the body can no longer sustain itself.
This is when life reaches its natural conclusion.
It’s not meant to be scary—just a reminder that our time here is precious, and our bodies deserve love, care, and connection while we’re still in them.

Rebuilding the Connection

The good news? You don’t have to wait for a crisis to reconnect. Use this a tool to investigate where you are in life and make a change.
Mindfulness, movement, breathwork, and deep self-inquiry can help you tune in before symptoms escalate.

Start now. Your body is always speaking—are you ready to listen?
